It is with great sorrow that we hear Professor Paolo Pelosi, an exceptional anesthesiologist recognized worldwide and an important member of BJAN's Editorial Board, has passed away on May 30, 2023.

Professor Pelosi was born in Milan, Italy, in 1963, and graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Milan, building an outstanding career. His influence and contributions changed patient care and the future of Anesthesiology. Professor Pelosi was recently a Chief Professor in Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the Universita Degli Studi Di Genova, Italy, besides an international member of the Brazilian Academy of Medicine.

His remarkable contributions to the fields of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine have revolutionized patient care and shaped the future of the discipline.
