Maternal Physiological Changes during Pregnancy

Resumo
A gestação produz profundas alterações no organismo materno com o objetivo fundamental de adequá-lo às necessidades orgânicas próprias do complexo materno-fetal e do parto. Inicialmente estas alterações se devem às ações hormonais provenientes do corpo lúteo e da placenta e a partir do segundo trimestre, também ao crescimento uterino. As principais modificações da fisiologia materna ocorrem no sistema cardiocirculatório, respiratório e gastrintestinal, além das metabólicas e hematológicas. O conhecimento destas modificações é de fundamental importância para o anestesiologista que se propõe a dar atendimento na difícil área da anestesia obstétrica.
